Group Shot

If you are in Middle School and you like to speed wildly down ice and snow covered hills on inflated rubber doughnuts, then read on. If not, you can read on if you would like, but this isn’t really for you. Friday, February 1st the middle school will be going to Badlands Snopark in Hudson, WI.

According to reports by the UN and other agencies, there are as many as 27 million people in slavery right now. As I tried to get my mind around how many people that was, one of the things I came up with was thinking about how long it would take to read a list of their names. If you read 27 million names, taking 3 seconds for each, it would take well over two years to read the entire list. (I was mixed up Sunday night when I said three and a half years, it’s really two and  half). I don’t know what we can do about this, but if nothing else I don’t want us to be ignorant. The website I mentioned on Sunday is www.ijm.org, they are a Christian NGO (non-governmental organization) that works for justice around the world. Check it out. Let me know what ideas you have for what we as a group might do to show love like Christ to people around the world who need it most.
